CURRUMBIN VALLEY BREWING
Two mates, Luke Ronalds and Peter Wheldon, started Currumbin Valley Brewing back in September 2016 with plans to start brewing beer commercially as gypsy brewers. It’s been a fun-filled, challenging and fast paced journey since then. Currumbin Valley Brewing’s maiden batch was gypsy brewed at Black Hops in Burleigh Heads with all 24 kegs pre-sold. Fast forward to October 2018 and the business partners ticked a major milestone off the list, having completed their first brew on their new brewery housed on Smokey’s farm in Currumbin Valley.
The first beer CVB launched commercially was Look Out!, an 8% Double IPA – thought to be the first of that style brewed on the Gold Coast, and exceedingly easy to drink – which was launched at Lester & Earl and Brewski bars. The beer that put them well and truly on the map, however, was a grape bubblegum sour. This beer, bright purple and with an ever-so-nostalgic flavour, won the People’s Choice award at The Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular, or GABS.
And now, you can taste that beer – and so many of their others, ranging from an easy-drinking lager to a sweet stout, at their Currumbin taproom. Stepping inside the venue, it’s warm and friendly; a place to relax and hang out for families and their fur babies.
