What are Hop On Brewery Tours?
Hop On Brewery Tours, Queensland’s ORIGINAL craft beer tours, offer a unique and fun-filled way to explore the local craft beer scene in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Visiting working breweries from Ipswich to Capalaba and Biggera Waters to Currumbin, our team gets guests inside the venues and behind the scenes of how your favourite beer is made. With the opportunity to meet and talk to the brewers, understand the brewing process from start to finish plus enjoy samples of fantastic local beer along the way, Hop On Brewery Tours is perfect for connoisseurs and non-beer-drinkers alike.
With full- and half-day tour options, Hop On Brewery Tours can cater for small and large groups, corporate functions, birthday parties, bucks and hens parties, or a date day with your significant other. Newly added distillery tours mean that gin and rum lovers can rejoice and learn more about their favourite tipple as well. Operating rain or shine, six days a week, our brewery tours will be a memory you won’t soon forget.
What does it mean to be the ORIGINAL and most experienced brewery tour company?
It means we have solid relationships within the industry, built over more than six years of running tours, from knowing the owners and brewers to having a laugh with the bar staff. This allows us VIP access behind the scenes, plus the opportunity to sample as-yet-unreleased beers from tank or hear about upcoming projects and events. We’re friends with the teams at the venues, not just faceless strangers that wander in from time to time. This goes for our distillery tours as well, with strong rapport between our guides and the crews pouring your drinks and teaching you about gin, rum and whiskey.
We are beer people involved in tourism, not tourism people cashing in on beer. We aren’t a party bus; guests get the perfect balance of astounding education about beer (and maybe insight into Brisbane history) while sampling a wide range from the breweries we visit, without the too-loud karaoke or the looming hangover the next day. We want you to remember the day fondly. Well, we want you to remember the day, period.
Who are we?
We are beer lovers who can’t wait to try the newest, freshest releases and who take pride in the tasting locally-brewed selections. Supporting small businesses and encouraging a wider beer-drinking community, we love to encourage others to do the same.
Hop On Brewery Tours occupy a unique space in the industry, from being involved with national beer competitions such as the Indies and the Royal Queensland Beer Awards to taking out local brewery staff for a day out. We’re the brewery tour the breweries take! From Black Hops to Ballistic, Revel to Happy Valley, plus Madocke, Green Beacon, White Lies, and many others. When one of our partner venues wants to treat their team to a day out, we’re the first people they call!
Matt resigned after 14 years working for a national finance company and was ready for a sea change, as it were. His lovely girlfriend, Joslyn, introduced him to the world of craft beer when they stumbled upon their very first Esk Beer Fest in Launceston, Tasmania, and there was no looking back. Pastimes include attending beer festivals, drinking craft beers, travelling the world (45 countries and counting), watching AFL, playing Scrabble, winning pub trivia, and hanging out with his daughter.
Joslyn has worked in tourism and travel since 2005, so leading tours and talking about beer is right up her alley. Originally from Portland, Oregon – a haven for any craft beer lover – Joslyn has been drinking good beer since she legally could (maybe earlier…) and was appalled at the lack of selection when arriving in Australia in 2010. Since then, the industry has been shifting, and she spends her free time with Matt attending beer festivals, travelling the globe, watching AFL (go Hawks!) and playing Scrabble.
Why do we lead craft beer tours?
Because we love good, independent, locally made (boutique) beer and we want to introduce it to the palates of every day Australians and overseas tourists – not just those who already know and love it. Even those who supposedly don’t like beer may be pleasantly surprised by what they may find on one of our tours! We want to help change your perception of beer.
What else?
Community support is important to the team at Hop On Brewery Tours, and causes we regularly support by offering raffle items or donations for auction are Perry Cross: To Cure Paralysis for All, Pink Ribbon Cup Day, GC Ramble who support a range of charities with their runs, Good Beer Co, as well as the nearest and dearest to our hearts, AWLQ.
We are also very proud members of Sam’s1000, a branch of Love Your Sister whose focus is squarely on cancer vanquishment – Jos even got to meet founder Samuel Johnson OAM!
Your support of Hop On Brewery Tours extends far further than you may realise, and we thank you for your traveling with us!
