Balter Brewing

Recognised on the Gold Coast as “the brewery started by pro surfers” Joel Parkinson, Bede Durbidge, Josh Kerr and Mick Fanning, Balter Brewing has made big waves in the craft beer world, on the Gold Coast and around the country. While their head brewer has years of experience with brands like Byron Bay Brewing Co, the boys here aren’t looking to be another untouchable craft beer found only in specialty bars and bottle shops.

Balter Brewing began as a labour of love for the surfers, and their first kegs were released to Surf Clubs and local RSLs as well as well-known burger joints and restaurants around the Gold Coast and Brisbane, making Balter beers some of the first to get into the hands of Gold Coast beer drinkers and (hopefully) lead them down the path of enjoying fresh, local craft beer.

Balter is a term that means “to dance artlessly without particular skill or grace, but usually with enjoyment” and is the spirit with which the owners, brewers and staff alike infuse their beers and venue.
